Kiki's Diary, 5th of May 2017

diary 05052017

"At times, the complete silence of the night is unterrupted by a deep sound coming from far. It is probably from landslides either at the Col of Lola pass - as the locals call it - or from the nearby Lobuche mountain".
"Most nights are calm. From time to time the only sounds you can hear are from a coughing climber or a tent zip while opening. There must be somebody going out to take a pee. This is unavoidable since we are all obliged to drink large amounts of water in daily basis".

The journey has just started

departure 31 3 2017

Spring of Life

spring of life1

Of all the crazy childhood memories I have I often recall our weekend trips to my grandparent’s. My entire family, including our 30 kg, hairy, collie dog, Randy, squeezed like sardines into my dad’s light blue Beatle car, and off we would go for another madcap jaunt to my parent’s home village.

After finishing my basic training in Greece’s mountains, including Mt. Olympus in winter time, it was time for me to climb some real high mountains. Mt.Kazbek, third highest in Georgia, was a convenient destination for me and a good test since it would be my first climb over 5000m. I have not too much time until next April ,so going higher and higher was required to be done the sooner the possible.

Happiness is a Choice

happiness is a choice1

This morning I wake up, do my everyday workout, and enjoy a nutritious breakfast and go out to seize my day. It is a fantastic day; the shining sun offers every opportunity for me to create the best day of my life. A good friend of mine always says: Today is the only day that we can actually act and do something to either change our lives completely or in case we already have our dream life then to simply embrace and enjoy it to the most.

From Katmandu to Luckla

03042017 Katmandu Luckla 1

Already we have done one unsuccessful attempt to depart, since weather conditions in Lukla are not appropriate for landing. But as my guide says, the most difficult part in climbing Mt. Everest is to reach Lukla! But today in the airport there was a surprise waiting for me. Mingma Sherpa was waiting for me to welcoming me. Mingma is the most famous Sherpa in Nepal, since he is the first Sherpa in history who climbed successfully all 14 peaks, above 8000m, around the world. Now he is the owner one of the biggest companies in Mountaineeting, the"7summits".

Love to Learn and Learn to Love

love 19112015

One of the many benefits of being in love is that one always remains young and excited and the best way to discover love anew each day is to keep trying something new, to learn something different and to do something you have never done before. As long as we learn we can never grow old and we would be in love, not only with another human but with life itself.
